With merger, US Airways would take American Airlines name, move HQ to Texas

US Airways Group Inc. Chief Executive Doug Parker tells the Fort Worth Star-Telegram if his airline merges with American Airlines    , the combined companies would be based in Fort Worth, Texas, and be known as American Airlines.

US Airways, which operates its largest hub at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, is based in Tempe, Ariz., and American parent AMR Corp. has its headquarters in Fort Worth.

US Airways has been working for months to buy American out of bankruptcy.
