US Airways employees to split $12M in profit sharing

The employees of US Airways Group Inc. will receive a total of $12 million in profit-sharing checks for their contribution to the carrier’s $111 million profit in 2011.

The workers also earned more than $13 million in incentive bonuses tied to operations last year.
“Despite high fuel prices throughout the year, our US Airways team delivered outstanding results that resulted in a profit for the second year running,” says Doug Parker, chairman and chief executive at the Tempe, Ariz.-based airline (NYSE:LCC). “I’m pleased that our team is sharing in that success.”

On average, each employee received $350 in payments for seven first-place performance rankings in 2011 among the nation’s five largest airlines. They were paid for baggage handling, on-time performance and customer service.

US Airways operates 3,200 daily flights to 200 destinations in the Americas, Europe and Middle East. The carrier's largest hub is at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
